Medicare is our country's health insurance program for people age 65 or older. You may also qualify if you have permanent kidney failure or receive Disability benefits.
There are 4 types of Medicare coverage: Part A or Hospital Coverage; Part B or Medical Coverage; Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage). If you have original Medicare, you will want to consider a Medigap policy that will help pay for some of the remaining healthcare costs that original Medicare doesn’t pay for (such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles).
Helpful Tips
There are three enrollment periods: When you turn 65; after age 65 if you been covered by an employer group health plan; and when you miss the other periods (life-long penalties likely involved).
