Director's Description
Established in 1994, Inova’s Adult Congenital Heart Program was one of the first programs in the country to care for adults with congenital heart disease. Based at the tertiary care center at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, the INOVA Heart and Vascular Institute in collaboration with INOVA L.J Murphy Children's Hospitals has a multidisciplinary team of board-certified specialists to provide quality care for the adult congenital heart community.
The clinical program includes both outpatient and inpatient pillars. The program manages patients ranging from those with simple to moderate heart lesions as well as advanced heart failure as related to congenital heart disease (CHD). Pregnancy in CHD moms, heart rhythm disorders in CHD, and pulmonary vascular disease in CHD patients is also managed. Procedures offered include those to manage complex heart rhythms, catheter based interventional procedures including valve replacement, and when needed cardiac surgery in adult congenital heart disease patients
including transplantation. Specialists spanning both adult and pediatric fields combine their talents to assure the best possible outcomes.
