In December 2008, the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) established a new initiative, ACHA Vision 2020. ACHA Vision 2020 is an initiative designed to accelerate the development of adult congenital heart care in the United States. The vision for 2020 is that ACHD is an established field that delivers quality lifelong care for adults in the United States. In so doing, the aim is to prevent premature death and disability and prolong health and well-being for congenital heart patients nationwide.
The ACHA Vision 2020 Forum
The V2020 Forum is designed to be a culminating event for the end of V2020 Phase I and the platform from which to begin V2020 Phase II. Morning and afternoon sessions will be offered: the Vision 2020 Community Forum and the Vision 2020 Professionals Forum. Download agenda.
ACHA Vision 2020 Healthcare Professionals’ Forum

This half-day event is designed to solicit feedback from key stakeholders in the congenital heart healthcare community. It will be interactive and engaging through small group conversation. Each registrant will have an opportunity to comment on all four sets of recommendations. Most importantly, we will be creating the momentum to move from planning to implementation. Forum participants will be asked to come prepared by having read the paper, V2020 Recommendations from Phase I. Participants’ will rotate among 4 tables, each dedicated to one of the recommendation areas – workforce planning, accreditation, regional care planning, and business model development. There will be a set of questions, primarily focused on how to proceed with next steps, to facilitate the dialogue at each table.

Vision 2020 Forum will occur on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC. By scheduling this year’s forum back-to-back with National Congenital Heart Lobby Day, we hope that many ACHA members will opt to attend both, enriching our vision for the future. This year’s Forum will offer two dynamic sessions which you do not want to miss. Input from both sessions are key in planning next steps in the Vision 2020 process, and ACHA warmly welcomes all to attend.
